CLEVELAND, Ga. (October 10, 2023) – The Truett McConnell University women's volleyball team hosted Appalachian Athletic Conference opponent Montreat College, where the Lady Bears secured the first two sets with ease and bounced back in set four to seal the deal on a conference win (25-20, 25-14, 23-25, 25-12). TMU rises to a record of 17-8, 10-3 AAC, while the Cavaliers fall to a record of 8-7, 5-7 AAC.

The Lady Bears started the night hot with a kill by
Jordan Roberts and
Sonya Silecky to take the lead (2-0). Multiple attacking errors by Montreat helped TMU increase their advantage, while a four-point run sparked by a Silecky kill put the Lady Bears ahead by six (14-8). TMU maintained the lead for the remainder of the set, ultimately coming out on top 25-20. The Lady Bears carried the momentum into set two with kills from
Katie Williams,
Ranavia Neal and Roberts, followed by more action Silecky and sharp serves from
Deomi Valmus. A strong run from the Cavaliers worked to bridge the gap, but the Lady Bears combatted the gain in speed with a run of their own, featuring kills from Neal, a service ace from
Madyson Dunn and Montreat errors (25-14).

Montreat battled back in set three, forcing the Lady Bears to stay quick on their feet. A four-point run sparked by kills from Roberts, Williams and
Katie Williamson gave TMU back the lead, but the Cavaliers were not shaken as they fought at the score through every volley (23-25). The Lady Bears bounced back in set four, setting the stage with a kill by Roberts. After getting ahead 17-10, TMU recorded their strongest run of the day with back-to-back kills from Williams, a kill by Neal and Cavalier errors, ultimately securing the win with a final set score of 25-12.

LEADERS
Williams led the way with 20 kills and 12 digs, while Roberts recorded 15 kills. Neal tallied 10 kills and three blocks, followed by
Rylee Simpson who had 45 assists on the day and
Rachel Kessler who had 12 digs.
