COLUMBIA, S.C. (January 3, 2023) - The Truett McConnell University women's basketball team hit the road for an Appalachian Athletic Conference match-up against Columbia International University, where the Lady Bears fell 55-76. TMU falls to a record of 3-11, 2-9 AAC, while the Rams rise to 7-8, 6-5 AAC.

The Lady Bears started strong with a three-point shot from Tia Shelton, followed by a fastbreak layup from Camilla Callihan for an early lead. The Rams quickly worked from behind, while back-to-back layups from Alysee Dobbs and a three-pointer from Jordyn Webster closed out the first quarter (16-24). In the second quarter, a shot behind the three-point arc from Asia Gant and free throws from Quan Holton closed the gap. Multiple fouls sent the Rams to the free-throw line, allowing them to create a large deficit. A layup from Dobbs sent the Lady Bears into the half down 26-32.
In the third quarter, a layup from Callihan and two free throws chipped away at the deficit, followed by a layup and a free throw from Dobbs to bring TMU within five. The Rams continued to add to their lead, but layups from Callihan, Destinee Lovejoy, and Dobbs sparked the Lady Bears' momentum. The Lady Bears continued to work hard with a clutch three-pointer from Dobbs, which sent TMU into the final quarter, trailing 44-54. In the fourth and final quarter, the Rams continued to add to their lead while the Lady Bears saw layups from Lovejoy and Lila Luettich. A free throw from Lovejoy was the Lady Bears final hope, leaving them to fall to the Rams 55-76.
LEADERS
Dobbs led the way with 17 points, going 4-5 at the free-throw line with seven rebounds. Callihan followed with 10 points, going 4-6 at the free-throw line with four rebounds. Lovejoy recorded nine points, going 3-5 in the paint while Webster tallied six points, going 2-3 in the paint and 1-1 at the free-throw line.
