Box Score LEBANON, Tenn. (Sept. 5, 2022)- The No. 19 Truett McConnell University women's soccer team traveled to face No. 16 Cumberland University, where the Lady Bears fell short 1-4. The Lady Bears record falls to 1-2-1, while the Phoenix rise to 3-0.
PLAY BY PLAY
In the first period, the Lady Bears had a slow start whereas the Phoenix had two shots and two corner kicks. The Phoenix had their first goal of the day in the 10th minute, followed by their second goal of the day in the 31st minute (0-2). The Lady Bears worked hard with four shots of their own, but went into the half scoreless.
In the second period, the Phoenix were aggressive from the beginning, making their third goal of the day in the 47th minute (0-3). The Lady Bears gained momentum with a goal from Jette Schulz, assisted by Nadiia Ivanchenko, to put TMU on the board (1-3). The Phoenix scored their final goal of the day in the 84th minute. The Lady Bears worked hard with a corner kick and a shot on goal, but were unable to respond.
LEADERS
Schulz led the way with three shots, three on goal and one goal on the day. Following, Eliska Dvorakova recorded four shots, with two on goal. Sydney League tallied two shots, with two on goal. Goalie Emelie Taylor had three goal saves on the day.

The Lady Bears head to Montreat, N.C. on Saturday, Sept. 10 for their first Appalachian Athletic Conference match-up against Montreat College. Kickoff is set for 7:00 p.m.
