MONTREAT, N.C. (September 10, 2022) – On Saturday, the Truett McConnell University men's soccer team traveled to Montreat College for the start of Appalachian Athletic Conference play, where the Bears fell in a heartbreaker, 1-3. TMU falls to a record of 2-1-1, 0-1 AAC, while the Cavaliers rise to 2-2, 1-0 AAC.
PLAY-BY-PLAY
In the first period, the Bears were seen outshooting the Cavaliers 8-7, with their first shot coming in the fifth minute of play. The Cavaliers scored their first goal of the day in the 28
th minute, quickly followed by a second goal in the 30
th minute (0-2). The Bears retaliated with two shots on goal from 
Patrick McGrath, but trailed going into the half.
In the second period, TMU was aggressive and outshot the Cavaliers 12-4, resulting in a goal from 
Max Farris, assisted by 
Jose Ventura, in the 72
nd minute (1-2). The Cavaliers scored their final goal of the day on a penalty kick in the 75
th minute, ultimately sealing the deal and leaving the Bears to fall 1-3.
LEADERS
Farris led the way with one shot, one on goal, and one goal on the day. 
Will Fraser-Gray recorded five shots, with two on goal, followed by McGrath with two shots, one on goal.
UP NEXT
The Bears continue AAC play with a roadtrip to West Point, Ga. to face Point University on Wednesday, September 14. Kickoff is set for 7:30 p.m.
