Box Score 4 Winston-Salem, N.C. (August 27, 2022) – The Truett McConnell University women's volleyball team traveled to compete in the Carolina University Tournament, where they went 4-0 on the weekend and faced Brewton-Parker College (25-9, 25-22, 25-19), Toccoa Falls College, Clinton College (25-16, 25-17, 25-16) and Carolina University (25-16, 25-20, 25-20).
MATCH 1 | Brewton-Parker College
The Lady Bears shutout the Barons in three sets, starting with a kill from Katie Williamson and a service ace from Brooklynn Brock. A four-point rally held the Barons off, when a final five-point rally secured a 25-9 victory. In the second set, the Barons worked hard to stay with TMU, but kills from Williamson and Elizabeth Franklin secured a lead. A late rally from the Barons brought them out in front, but kills from Williamson and Kaitlin Reynolds gave the Lady Bears the lead. A service ace from Deomi Valmus clinched a 25-22 win. In the final set, the Barons were first to score and took an early lead. A kill from Rachel Kessler and Williams brought the score even, where a three-point rally gave TMU the lead. It was lights out for the Lady Bears with a six-point rally to secure a 25-19 sweep over the Barons.
LEADERS
Williams and Williamson led the way with nine kills, followed by Leah Bowen with eight. Madyson Dunn had nine digs, followed by Brock with seven and Williams with five. Brock had an impressive 22 assists, followed by Boland with four of her own.

MATCH 3 | Clinton College
The Lady Bears blanked the Golden Bears in three sets, but fell behind in the first set. The Golden Bears started with a six-point rally, but the Lady Bears were persistent. Kills from Bowen, Kennedy Allemand and Jordan Roberts give TMU a 25-16 victory. In the second set, the Lady Bears worked quick to gain the lead. A kill from Roberts, followed by a kill from Brock expanded the lead. A late seven-point rally sealed a 25-17 win. In the final set, the Golden Bears were aggressive, but a kill from Bowen sparked the fire for the Lady Bears. A service ace from Boland and multiple kills from Roberts and Williams clinched the 25-16 sweep over the Golden Bears.
LEADERS
Bowen led the way with eight kills, followed by Roberts and Williams tallying seven apiece. Dunn led the way with seven digs, followed by Kessler with five digs of her own. Brock paved the way with 19 assists, followed by Williams with three.
MATCH 4 | Carolina University
The Lady Bears concluded their weekend series with three tough sets with the Bruins. In the first set, the Bruins were first to score, but TMU retaliated with a three-point rally to take the lead. The Bruins fought hard and regained the lead, but kills from Bowen and Williams recaptured the lead. A late three-point rally secured set one (25-16). TMU was hot in set two starting with kills from Williams and Ranavia Neal. The Bruins and Lady Bears were neck and neck, until the Bruins broke away with a five-point rally. A late six-point rally from TMU included service aces from Dunn and kills from Williams to regain the lead. A kill from Emma Whicker sealed a 25-20 win.
In the final set, the Bruins were first on the board, but were no match for the Lady Bears. Three consecutive kills from Williams sparked a fire for TMU, leaving a kill from Roberts to regain the lead. The Bruins were persistent, but kills from Brock and Williams allowed TMU to jump ahead. TMU finished with kills from Neal and Williamson, clinching a 25-20 sweep over the Bruins.
LEADERS
Williams led the Lady Bears with 15 kills, followed by Neal with eight kills and Bowen with seven of her own. Dunn paved the way with 19 digs, followed by Williams with six. Brock recorded an astounding 34 assists.

The Lady Bears hit the road to Greenville, S.C. on Tuesday, August 20, for a tri-match with Converse University and Bob Jones University. Match time is set for 6:00 p.m. and 8:00 p.m.
