KINGSPORT, Tenn. (April 26, 2022) - On Tuesday, the No. 4 Truett McConnell University softball team traveled to Kingsport, Tenn. for the Appalachian Athletic Conference Tournament. The Lady Bears faced No. 5 Brenau University, where they collected a big day one with with a final score of 2-0. TMU improves has a record of 29-23, 20-8 AAC.
 
PLAY-BY-PLAY
The Lady Bears and the Golden Tigers were evenly matched with a classic pitcher's duel until the bottom of the fourth inning. A lead-off Briley Lawson home-run to left field propelled TMU to a 1-0 lead. A Rachel Morgan double put runners in scoring position, where a clutch Ellie Abner single scored the second run of the game (2-0). Pitcher Kyleigh Sanders stayed resilient on the mound to hold the Golden Tigers to a final score of 2-0. 
 
LEADERS
B. Lawson and Lexie Simonton led the way offensively, both going 2-3 at the plate. B. Lawson tallied one RBI and one run. Rachel Morgan was 1-3, while Abner was 1-1 with one RBI. Sanders threw a complete game, recording eight strikeouts and only allowed two hits.
