CLEVELAND, Ga. (March 10, 2022) - The Truett McConnell University men's volleyball team put up a fight in three tough sets against Webber International University, ultimately falling to a final match score of 3-0 (25-5, 25-21, 25-20).
PLAY-BY-PLAY
Set one saw the Bears unable to respond as the Warriors took an early lead and held the advantage for the remainder of the set (5-25). TMU was not shaken in set two, as kills from
Ryan Stokes and
Kaleb Mitchell gave the Bears a fighting chance, forcing the game to be determined in the final points (21-25). The third set saw TMU with the same speed, forcing the Warriors to work under pressure. A
Nathan Hill kill sparked a five point run for the Bears, followed by a
Wensky Saintilmond service ace and kill from
Owen Nobles (15-18). A final strong run gave WIU a competitive advantage, as a final kill from Mitchell proved not enough (20-25).
LEADERS
Mitchell and Stokes individually led with four kills, while Nobles recorded three kills and three blocks. Hill had a single kill and four digs, followed by Saintilmond who had 11 assists and eight digs.
