Bears late rally not enough, fall in game one against Point

EMERSON, Ga. (March 10, 2022) – On Thursday, the Truett McConnell University baseball team traveled to Lakepoint Sports facility to face Appalachian Athletic Conference opponent, Point University. The Bears were unable to work from behind and fell short, 9-12. TMU falls to 11-9, 5-5 AAC, while the Skyhawks rise to 10-10, 5-2 AAC.

PLAY-BY-PLAY

The Skyhawks were first to score in the second inning, 0-6, taking an early lead. TMU retaliated with an Andrew Johnston single in the top of the fourth. Will Ingram's hit moved Johnston into scoring position, where Tanner Griffith's ground out scored him from third to put the Bears on the board (1-6). The Skyhawks continued to attack and scored another run in the bottom of the fourth (1-7). A Jake Edwards double started the fifth, followed by a Matthew Redmond hit to score Edwards (2-7). Another Johnston double, followed by a Mikal Mascarello ground out scored Redmon (3-7). The Skyhawks ultimately secured the game with four more runs in the fifth (3-11). A late five hit inning in the top of the eight was not enough to provide for the Bears, leaving them to fall 9-12.
