CLEVELAND, Ga. (February 11, 2022) – On Friday, the Truett McConnell University baseball team hosted Indiana University Kokomo inside the TMU Baseball Complex, where they fell in the first game of the non-conference series, 1-8. The Bears sit 4-2 on the season, while the Cougars are 2-3.
PLAY-BY-PLAY
The Bears were first to score in the first inning with a Mikal Mascarello double to center field, continuing to score on an Andrew Johnston misplayed ball to second base (1-0). The Cougars retaliated with a run of their own in the top of the third (1-1). The bottom of the fourth saw a Tanner Griffith walk and a Brady Wilson single load the bases, but the Bears were unable to produce another run. The Cougars offense was sparked in the fifth inning, ultimately leaving the game out of reach for the Bears.
LEADERS
Mascarello led the way going 2-4 at the plate and scoring the only run of the day. Caleb Ramsey and Wilson both recorded one hit a piece, while Johnston had one hit with an RBI on the day and Matthew Redmond recorded two walks.
Pitcher Davis Richardson recorded two strikeouts, while Miller McCathren was capable of recording three strikeouts of his own.
