CLEVELAND, Ga. (November 9, 2022)- The No. 1 Truett McConnell University women's soccer team hosted Appalachian Athletic Conference opponent No. 4 Montreat College for the AAC Tournament Semifinals, where the Lady Bears triumphed over the Cavaliers with a 5-0 victory. TMU advances to the championship game with an overall record of 16-2-1, 14-0 AAC.
PLAY BY PLAY
In the first half, the Lady Bears were hot out of the gates with their first shot from Brianna Hernandez and Sydney League. The momentum picked up with a shot on goal from League and Eliska Dvorakova in the 13th minute. A corner kick from Nadiia Ivanchenko set the stage for the first goal of the day from Ruffa Meger (1-0). A quick turnaround resulted in goal number two from Dvorakova, propelling the Lady Bears forward with a steady lead (2-0). TMU continued to rally with a header from Dvorakova and a shot on goal from Kayla Boggess, sealing the deal for a ball from Ashley Johnson to find the back of the net, assisted by Lindsey Fowler (3-0).
The start of the second half saw Dvorakova with a shot that missed just wide, for her second goal of the day, assisted by League (4-0). Multiple shots from Ivanchenko were blocked and missed wide, where shots on goal from League and Jette Schulz sparked the final goal. In the 65th minute, Dvorakova secured a hat trick with a third goal, assisted by Ivanchenko (5-0). The Cavaliers mustered a few shots of their own, but a strong TMU defense resulted in a 5-0 victory.
LEADERS
Dvorakova led the way with six shots, four on goal, and three goals on the day. Johnson followed with two shots, two on goal, and one goal, while Meger tallied one shot, one on goal, and one goal. Ivanchenko tallied two assists, while League and Fowler had one assist apiece.
