MATCH 1 | St. Andrews University
In the first set, the Royals were first on the board, but a kill from Brooklynn Brock and Leah Bowen kept the Lady Bears evenly matched. A three-point rally with kills from Bowen, Katie Williams, and Jordan Roberts saw an early lead. The Royals were persistent and worked from behind to recapture the lead. A kill from Bowen was not enough, leaving TMU to fall 22-25. In set two, the Royals worked quickly with two, three-point rallies for an early lead. The Lady Bears retaliated with a five-point rally and kills from Bowen and Roberts to close the margin. A four-point rally sent TMU ahead, while a kill from Neal and a service ace from Brock secured set two (25-23).
In the third set, the Royals started with a six-point rally to create a deficit. An eight-point rally from the Lady Bears included four consecutive kills from Sonya Silecky to recapture the lead. Both teams were neck-and-neck until a late five-point rally gave TMU the lead. Another kill from Neal and a service ace from Silecky gave the Lady Bears set three (25-22). In set four, both teams were persistent, but an early five-point rally from the Royals set the pace. A kill from Williams and a service ace from Madyson Dunn raised the score, where a kill from Brock propelled TMU ahead. The Royals fought hard with a late rally of their own, leaving the Lady Bears to drop set four (21-25).
In the final set, the Lady Bears were first to strike. The Royals quickly retaliated, leaving both teams to fight with grit. A kill from Neal and Williams gave the Lady Bears an early lead, while two consecutive kills from Roberts gave TMU an edge. A kill from Silecky, followed by a kill from Neal and Williams sent TMU ahead, where a service ace from Deomi Valmus secured a victory over the Royals (15-10).
LEADERS
Neal led the way with 18 kills, followed by Williams with 13 and Roberts with 10. Valmus recorded 32 digs, while Silecky recorded 15 on the evening. Brock tallied 49 assists.
