BLUEFIELD, Va. (October 1, 2022) - The Truett McConnell University women's volleyball team traveled to face Appalachian Athletic Conference foe Bluefield College, where the Lady Bears fell in three sets (12-25, 20-25, 25-27). TMU falls to a record of 10-11, 5-4 AAC, while the Rams rise to 11-6, 9-1 AAC.
PLAY-BY-PLAY
In the first set, the Rams were first to strike and created a large deficit. A kill from Katie Williams sparked the momentum, but the Rams continued to rally. The Lady Bears worked together to close the gap, but fell short 12-25. In set two, TMU was first on the board with a kill from Williams, Ranavia Neal, and Sonya Silecky. The Rams quickly retaliated with a rally of their own to take the lead. Kills from Leah Bowen and Neal kept both teams neck-and-neck. A late rally from the Rams left the Lady Bears to fall behind, 20-25.
In the final set, the Lady Bears attacked early with a six-point rally with two service aces from Deomi Valmus and a kill from Silecky. The Rams had to work from behind, but TMU continued to add to their lead. A late five-point rally from the Rams tied the set, where a kill from Jordan Roberts gave TMU the advantage. Ultimately, a kill from Silecky was not enough and left the Lady Bears to fall 25-27.
LEADERS
Williams led the way with eight kills, followed by Bowen and Silecky with seven apiece. Valmus recorded 13 digs, where Williams collected 10 of her own. Emma Boland recorded 17 assists on the day, followed by Brooklynn Brock with 10 of her own.
