Box Score 2 CLEVELAND, Ga. (October 15, 2022) -Â The Truett McConnell University women's volleyball team hosted Bob Jones University and Appalachian Athletic Conference foe Milligan University for a tri-match, where the Lady Bears split on the day. TMU rises to a record of 15-13, 8-6 AAC.
MATCH 1 | Milligan University
In the first set, the Lady Bears got an early lead with a kill from Leah Bowen. The Buffaloes were quick to work ahead with a six-point rally. TMU responded with a six-point rally with kills from Jordan Roberts and Katie Williams paired with a service ace from Deomi Valmus to take the lead. The Buffaloes rallied late to leave the Lady Bears behind, 23-25. In set two, TMU struck first with a kill from Roberts and Williams, followed by a service ace from Emma Boland. The Buffaloes were persistent, leaving both teams to be neck-and-neck. A four-point rally from the Lady Bears gave them an edge, where a kill from Roberts secured a 25-20 victory.
In the third set, both teams were evenly matched until a three-point rally from the Buffaloes sent them ahead. Another four-point rally from the Buffaloes created a large deficit, where a two-point rally left TMU to fall 13-25. In the final set, the Lady Bears were first to strike with a kill from Ranavia Neal. Both teams were evenly matched until a three-point rally sent TMU ahead. A late six-point rally from the Bulldogs propelled them ahead, leaving TMU to fall 1-3 to the Bulldogs.
LEADERS
Roberts and Neal led the way with 10 kills apiece, followed by Williams with eight of her own. Sonya Silecky recorded 17 digs, followed by Valmus with 15. Brooklynn Brock tallied 36 assists on the evening.
MATCH 2 | Bob Jones University
In the first set, TMU struck early with a five-point rally that consisted of four kills from Williams. The Bruins worked hard, but kills from Bowen, Roberts, and Neal kept the Lady Bears ahead. A late five-point rally left TMU in the dust (22-25). In set two, both teams were evenly matched until a service ace from Macy Boggs sparked a four-point rally. With a large lead, a kill from Bowen and Elizabeth Franklin sent TMU to victory (25-14).
In the third set, the Bruins attacked early with a four-point rally. Kills from Silecky, Katie Williamson, and Neal closed the gap. A kill from Franklin and Bowen recaptured the Lady Bears lead, where a service ace from Boggs created a large deficit. Two service aces from Valmus secured set three for TMU (25-23). In the final set, the Lady Bears had a three-point rally, followed by a four-point rally to spark the momentum. Kills from Franklin, Silecky, and Neal contributed to the lead, where a kill from Williamson and Neal secured a 4-1 victory over the Bruins.
LEADERS
Bowen led the way with 14 kills on the evening, Silecky recorded 11, while Neal and Williamson recorded 10 apiece. Silecky tallied 27 digs, with Valmus recording 24. Brock had an outstanding 50 assists on the evening.
