Bears remain resilient to secure AAC win

DAYTON, Tenn. (January 20, 2022) - The Truett McConnell University men's basketball team traveled to compete against Appalachian Athletic Conference opponent, Bryan College, where the Bears extended their win streak to three after securing a 69-64 victory over the Lions. TMU improved to a record of 11-8, 7-7 AAC, while Bryan fell to a record of 13-6, 10-5 AAC.

PLAY-BY-PLAY

The Bears hit the court rolling with a shot in the paint by Brent Kelly, followed by an Enocka Franky layup (4-2). It was only up from there as TMU reached a double digit lead after a Kafunba Toure shot in the paint (18-7), and reached their largest lead of the half off a shot from Franky (38-19). The Lions worked to decrease the gap, but the Bears did not give in as they stayed up 44-25 at the half.

TMU maintained a large lead for the entire second half, never dropping below a 10 point advantage, until the Lions fought back with three minutes remaining (65-57). With the Bears only up by one, a jump shot by KJ Riley, followed by a single Toure free throw and two Riley free throws proved to secure the win for TMU, with a final score of 69-65.
