WILLIAMSBURG, Ky. (Sept. 4, 2021). The Truett McConnell University women's soccer team faced the University of the Cumberlands in the final day of their weekend road trip. The Lady Bears suffered their first loss of the season with a final score of 3-0, despite outshooting the Patriots 13-9.
PLAY BY PLAY
The Patriots were hot out of the gate. They scored back-to-back goals in the first ten minutes of regulation play. TMU was forced to work from behind, but their offense stayed resilient. Eliska Dvorakova was amongst the group that took a chance at the goal. She fired six shots with one on goal, but the Patriots goalkeeper showed grit, leaving the score 2-0 at the half.
The Lady Bears gained momentum in the second half, outshooting the Patriots 6-3. In the final minutes, a blocked shot from Dvorakova resulted in an earned corner kick. This ultimately proved to be TMU's last opportunity to hit the board, but they fell to a final score of 3-0.
LEADERS
Dvorakova led with six shots, one on goal followed by Ashleigh Smitherman with three shots, two on goal. Nadia Basto had one shot on goal, while Natalie Alamri, Luna Vincenzi and Lauren Bergavine had a shot apiece.
