Women's volleyball suffers 3-1 loss at Bryan

DAYTON, Tenn. (September 17, 2021) - On Friday, the Truett McConnell University women's volleyball team traveled to face Appalachian Athletic Conference member, Bryan College, where a four set match saw the Lions on top with a final score of 3-1 (25-13, 22-25, 25-18, 25-11). Bryan rose to a record of 7-3, 3-0AAC, while the Lady Bears declined to a record of 3-10, 1-2AAC.

PLAY-BY-PLAY

The Lions ultimately stole set one from the start, after an eight point run escalated to a lead of at most 13, resulting in a final score of 13-25. The Lady Bears bounced back in set two, securing a five point lead that began with a Jordan Roberts kill, followed by a Ranavia Neal kill (6-1). Bryan evened the score with a kill of their own (8-8), capable of taking the lead, but it wasn't long before TMU bridged the gap once more from an Elizabeth Franklin kill to make the score 19-19. The set was determined in the final points as a kill by Sonya Silecky, followed by Bryan errors, left the Lady Bears up 25-22. Set three and four saw the Lion's gain momentum from game changing runs, unfortunatley collecting the final two sets to steal the match 3-1 (18-25, 11-25).

LEADERS

Franklin led the Lady Bears with 10 kills and three blocks, while Silecky had seven kills with 15 digs. Virginia Hudson recorded seven kills, Roberts recorded six kills, Bethany Ross recorded five kills and Neal recorded two kills. Rachel Kessler had 13 digs, followed by Deomi Valmus who tallied 13 digs and 14 assists. Taylor Roland had 11 digs of her own, while Morgan Cox recorded 11 assists.

UP NEXT

TMU will travel to face Tennessee Wesleyan University, tomorrow for day two of their AAC roadtrip, with a match time set for 1:00 p.m.
