CLEVELAND, Ga. (August 27, 2021) – The Truett McConnell University men's soccer team is set to begin their 2021 season on Friday, at Webber International University. According to the Appalachian Athletic Conference Coaches' Preseason Poll, the Bears were picked to finish No. 10 of 14 teams.

"I am excited about this group of guys! We return a solid foundation group of players to build things on," said Head Coach Scott Borchers. "This foundation group persevered through a lot last year and are looking forward to raising the standard."

Men's Soccer had a transitional season as Coach Borchers returned to TMU as the head men's soccer coach with decorated experience after serving as TMU's head men's and women's soccer coach from 2002-2007. Coach Borchers is accompanied this season by Assistant Coach Jose Herrera, a TMU men's soccer alum, and Student Assistant Victor Clemente, a TMU men's soccer alum.

Junior Ivan Serubiri and sophomore Lucan Yates are amongst the group of influential returners for the Bears. TMU will also feature 20 incomers.

"We have added a lot of personality, energy, experience, and talent to the team. The boys have been working hard during the preseason weeks, each day they are together, they continue to grow as men, as teammates, and as a F.A.M.I.L.Y."

Friday's match-up is set to begin at 10:00 a.m. at Webber International, with the first home and AAC opener of the season against Montreat College, Saturday, September 11, at 4:30 p.m.
