Lady Bears take third at Skyhawk Invite, Panter and Lovingood All-Tournament

PINE MOUTAIN, Ga. (Mar. 9, 2021) – The Truett McConnell University women's golf team finished third of 10 teams with a total score of 631 at the Skyhawk Invitational on Monday-Tuesday. No. 4 Southeastern University won the tournament with a 605, while No. 11 Indiana Wesleyan finished runner-up with a 625.

TMU defeated the following Appalachian Athletic Conference opponents; Brenau University (4th), Reinhardt University (7th), Tennessee University (7th) and Point University (9th).

"Our women had an incredible tournament this week at difficult course," Head Coach Steve Patton said. "We stayed within close proximity of the 11th ranked team in the nation all day, but they pulled away by a small margin at the end. This tournament should solidify a top 25 ranking in the NAIA polls at the end of this week. I am very proud of the girls!"

Freshman Madison Panter led the way finishing third overall of 57 golfers. Panter shot a 75 through round one and a 77 through round two. Fifth-year Teagan Lovingood followed tied in fifth with a 76 and 80. Freshman Grace Lansdell shot an 87 day one, but shaved off 12 strokes day two (75) to finish tied for 12th.
