CLEVELAND, Ga. (Mar. 15, 2021) – Madison Panter and Nate Thornton, of the Truett McConnell University women's golf and No. 17 men's golf teams, were named the Appalachian Athletic Conference golfers of the week for the week ending Monday.

Freshman Panter led the Lady Bears to a third-place finish, of 10 teams, at the Skyhawk Invitational last Monday-Tuesday. Panter claimed a spot on the All-Tournament team finishing third overall of 57 individuals. Panter shot a 75 through the first 18 and a 77 through the second 18 to finish eight over par.

Fellow freshman Thornton also led his team at the Skyhawk Invitational. The Bears won the tournament of 16 teams finishing eight over par overall. Thornton individually finished runner-up of 80 after carding two 70's and then a 73 on day two to finish three under par.

Panter, Thornton and the rest of the TMU golf team will be competing at the Chattahoochee Golf Club for the Golden Tigers and TMU Bears Invitational today and Tuesday.
