MILLIGAN COLLEGE, Tenn. (Feb. 9, 2021) – After beating Milligan University back in January at home, the Truett McConnell University women's basketball team fell in a hard-fought Appalachian Athletic Conference game against the Buffs (76-71) on the road. The Lady Bears fell to a record of 10-12, 7-12 AAC, while the Buffs improved to 8-13, 8-10 AAC.
PLAY-BY-PLAY
TMU got after it right away as they got ahead by as much as seven (14-7) after a Re'Tavia Floyd 3-pointer. Milligan cut the deficit to two in the final seconds of the first quarter (16-14) and went on to win the second by five to possess a three-point advantage at halftime (34-37).
The Lady Bears came out from the half to get back out front by as much as six in the third (51-45), but Milligan picked up the pace as they closed out the third on a 8-3 scoring run to make it a one-point game once again (54-53). Both teams were neck and neck throughout the entire fourth quarter with a tied game at 69-69 with 1:54 to go in regulation. However, free throws ultimately proved to be the difference as Milligan went 7-for-8 from the charity stripe while Truett only scored once more (71-76).
LEADERS
Floyd led the way with 21 points, including four 3-pointers, and added six rebounds and two assists. Senior Sierra Kendall followed with a double-double of 18 points and 10 rebounds. Aisya Davis added eight points and two assists. Quan Holton, Brenna Tate and Camilla Howell contributed six points apiece.
