LAURINBURG, N.C. (Feb. 4, 2021) – The Truett McConnell University men's basketball team was unable to come out on top at St. Andrews University on Thursday evening after a nine-minute scoring drought in the first half. The Bears lost to the Knights by 10 (76-66), which put TMU at 7-14, 4-11 AAC and SAU at 3-7, 2-7 AAC on the year.

WHAT HAPPENED
The Bears pulled away with the lead immediately to eventually lead by 10 points (27-17) with 9:50 to go in the first half. However, TMU suffered a scoring drought that lasted the rest of the first half, while SAU scored 20 points to earn a 10-point lead at halftime (27-37).

The second half saw TMU tie the game back up twice and get back out front by as much as three (50-47) with 9:48 to go in the game, but the Knights took off to eventually lead by as much 12 and the Bears were never able to fully catch back up.

LEADERS
Three Bears carried the bulk of the scoring. Freshman
Ty Briscoe led with 20 points and had five rebounds, while junior
Enocka Franky followed with 19 points and eight rebounds.
Marlon Allen had 18 points, eight rebounds, three assists and three steals.
Brent Kelly led with seven assists and added seven rebounds.

The Bears will face St. Andrews once again on Saturday, Feb. 6, at 4:00 p.m., inside the Benjamin F. Brady Arena before facing Milligan University next week back-to-back.
