LAWRENCEVILLE, Ga. (Feb. 19, 2021) – The Truett McConnell University baseball team traveled to No. 3 Georgia Gwinnett College Friday, where they fell to a final score of 5-3. The Bears are sitting now at an overall record of 6-3, while GGC rose to a record of 5-2.
PLAY BY PLAY
The Grizzlies came out hot at the start with a home run in the bottom of the first (1-0), while the Bears were quick to retaliate in the top of the second with a Will Ingram sacrifice bunt to score Kodi Bishop from third (1-1), but GGC responded once more in the bottom of the second on a defense's indifference (2-1).
The fourth saw GGC up by three with one unearned run (4-1), and it wasn't until the top of the sixth that a Josh Johnston home run over the right field fence lessened the lead (4-2), along with TMU scoring once more in the top of the eighth after an Andrew Johnston single to center scored J. Johnston on third (5-3). However, it was ultimately not enough as TMU fell in their first road game of the season by two.
