CLEVELAND, Ga. (November, 3, 2021) – On Wednesday, the Truett McConnell University women's volleyball team competed in their final game of the season, where they faced Reinhardt University in a heartbreaking three sets that resulted in the conclusion of their 2021 season (25-18, 25-17, 25-16). The Lady Bears finished with a final record of 12-21, 7-13 AAC, and finished No. 11 in the AAC overall.
PLAY-BY-PLAY
Both teams were even in play from the start of set one, until the Eagles ran away with a seven-point run to make the score 5-10. The Lady Bears worked to lessen the lead, taking a five-point run of their own, featuring two Morgan Cox ace's and Ranavia Neal and Elizabeth Franklin kills (16-21). Reinhardt ultimately secured the win in set one (18-25), forcing TMU to work hard from behind in set two. The score was once again even at the start of the set, but the Eagles took a strong run mid-set to put the lead out of reach for their second win (17-25). With two sets under their belt, Reinhardt continued to gain momentum and put pressure on the Lady Bears, ultimately clinching set three with a score of 16-25.
LEADERS
Neal led the way for the Lady Bears with nine kills, while Franklin followed up with six kills of her own. Â Jordan Roberts recorded four kills, Virginia Hudson recorded three kills and Sonya Silecky recorded three kills, 16 digs and 13 assists. Rachel Kessler had 17 digs on the night, while Cox had 11 digs.
Senior Bethany Ross concluded her career with a total of 1276 kills and 739 digs, as well as reaching a single season career high of 377 kills this season. Fellow senior Taylor Roland concluded her career with a total of 420 digs, featuring a single season career high of 194 digs this season.
