Box Score CLEVELAND, Ga. (October 9, 2021) - The Truett McConnell University men's soccer team competed against AAC opponent, Tennessee Wesleyan University, inside the TMU Soccer/Lacrosse Complex on Saturday. The Bears lost in a hard fought battle with final score of 2-0. TMU fell to a record of 3-6-2, 2-6 AAC, while the Bulldogs rose to a record of 7-5-1, 6-2 AAC.
PLAY-BY-PLAY
The Bears were firing shots from the beginning, with a blocked shot from Oscar Brennan in the fourth minute. Lucan Yates and Jose Ventura individually had a blocked shot in the sixth minute of play. The Bulldogs were aggressive, taking shots of their own, but the Bears managed to hold them on defense. TWU was resilient, earning the first goal of the evening in the 29th minute (0-1). The Bears continued to fight, holding the Bulldogs on defense for the remainder of the first period. In the second period, TMU returned to the field determined. In the 64th minute, the Bears struck with a corner kick from Callum Smith and a shot on goal from Aidan Tustin. The Bulldogs managed to score their final goal of the evening in the 69th minute (0-2). The Bears tried to even the score with a shot from Brennan and a shot on goal from Francisco Murdoch, but fell short 0-2.
LEADERS
Brennan and Ventura led the way with three shots, one on goal apiece. Murdoch and Tustin followed with one shot , one on goal. Most notable, goalie Chandler Bond had seven saves on the day.

The Bears will hit the road Wednesday, Oct. 13, to face AAC opponent, Columbia College, with a kickoff time that is to be announced.
