CLEVELAND, Ga. (October 30, 2021) - The Truett McConnell University men's soccer team concluded their fall 2021 season Saturday against Appalachian Athletic Conference opponent, St. Andrews University, inside the TMU Soccer/Lacrosse Complex.  The Bears played with grit, securing a big overtime win of 2-1. TMU finished their regular season play with a record of 6-8-2, 5-8 AAC, while the Knights finish with a record of 8-6-2, 6-5-1 AAC.
 
PLAY-BY-PLAY
In the first period, Callum Smith, assisted by Hebert Lima, scored the first goal of the day for the Bears in the 13th minute (1-0). TMU continued to strike, with shots from Smith and earned corner kicks, while holding the Knights to a score of 1-0 at the half. In the second period, the Knights struck with a goal of their own in the 67th minute (1-1). The Bears rallied together on offense taking multiple shots, but were unable to score, forcing the game into overtime. The overtime period saw Lucan Yates, assisted by Oscar Brennan, find the back of the net to score the winning goal in the 95th minute, leading the Bears to a 2-1 victory over SAU.
 
LEADERS
Most notable, goalie Chandler Bond had nine goal saves on the day, totaling 60 on the season. Smith led the way on offense with six shots, two on goal and one goal on the day. Yates recoded one goal on the day, while Jose Ventura was close behind with six shots, two on goal. Hebert Lima and Brennan individually tallied an assist apiece.
