Box Score CLEVELAND, Ga. (October 29, 2021) - The Truett McConnell University women's volleyball team competed Friday, inside the TMU Volleyball/Wrestling Arena, where they faced AAC opponent, Johnson University. The Lady Bears fought five gruesome sets, gaining momentum to steal a 3-2 victory over the Royals (25-17, 25-16, 16-25, 15-25, 15-11). TMU rose to a record of 11-19, 7-11 AAC, while the Royals fell to 17-18, 5-13 AAC.
PLAY-BY-PLAY
In the first set, the Lady Bears had a three point rally with a service ace from Rachel Kessler and a kill from Katie Williamson. A service ace from Morgan Cox and a kill from Sonya Silecky separated TMU from the Royals. A service ace from Cox sealed the deal, giving the Lady Bears a 25-17 win. In the second set, TMU and the Royals were back and forth. A kill from Jordan Roberts gave the Lady Bears the lead, but a four point rally with a kill from Williamson sealed the deal (25-16).
In the third set, the Royals struck first, but a kill from Roberts and Elizabeth Franklin saw TMU increase in speed. A final kill from Hudson was ultimately not enough as TMU fell 16-25. In the fourth set, the Royals struck hard, but the Lady Bears did not give up. A six point rally with kills from Ranavia Neal, Madyson Dunn and a service ace from Cox evened the gap, ultimately not enough (15-25). In the fifth and final set, the Lady Bears started with a three point rally with a kill from Neal and a service ace from Kessler. It was back and forth, but two power kills by Neal's ultimately sealed the deal, as the Lady Bears collected their third set win (15-11).
LEADERS
Most notable, Neal led the way with 12 kills on the evening, along with two digs. Roberts followed closely with 11 kills and seven digs. Williamson and Silecky both had seven kills apiece. Cox had three service aces on the evening, followed by Kessler with two. Deomi Valmus had 20 digs, followed by Dunn with 14 digs.

The Lady Bears remain in the TMU Volleyball/Wrestling Arena for two matchups on Saturday, Oct. 30. TMU will face AAC opponent, Union College, with a match time set for 1:00 p.m. and Toccoa Falls College, with a match time set for 5:00 p.m.
