CLEVELAND, Ga. (October 23, 2021) – The Truett McConnell University women's volleyball team went face-to-face with Appalachian Athletic Conference competitor, (RV) Columbia International University, Saturday inside the TMU Volleyball/Wrestling Arena. The Bears put up a close fight in set one and two, but ultimately fell to a match score of 3-0 (25-16, 25-17, 25-10). TMU declined to a record of 10-19, 6-11 AAC, while the Rams improved to a record of 25-7, 16-2 AAC.
PLAY-BY-PLAY
CIU took an early lead form the start of set one, but the Lady Bears immediately responded with a three-point run to decrease the lead to two (3-5). TMU bridged the gap after an
Elizabeth Franklin kill and stole the lead off a
Deomi Valmus ace (9-8). The Rams were quick to respond with a three-point run of their own, and clinched the win after a four-point run for the final points of the set (16-25).
The Lady Bears did not back down, as set two saw TMU with a four-point lead at the start (4-0). CIU worked to make the score even, but a
Ranavia Neal kill kept TMU up by three (7-4). A Rams kill evened the score, along with a four-point run to steal the lead (13-11). CIU quickly gained momentum to rally in the final points once again to clinch their second set win (17-25). A five-point run at the start of set three set the pace, resulting in a third and final Rams win (10-25).
LEADERS
Neal led the way with eight kills, followed by
Virginia Hudson and
Jordan Roberts with four kills apiece.
Sonya Silecky tallied three kills, along with six assists and nine digs. Franklin recorded two kills,
Bethany Ross recorded one kill and
Madyson Dunn had four digs on the day.
Morgan Cox tallied nine assists and four digs, while Valmus had 16 digs, respectfully.

The Lady Bears will travel to face Columbia College Tuesday, October 26, with a match time set for 6:30 p.m.
