CLEVELAND, Ga. (October 20, 2021) – The Truett McConnell University men's soccer team showed their grit Wednesday, inside the TMU Soccer/Lacrosse Complex, as they held Appalachian Athletic Conference competitor, Reinhardt University, to a scoreless first half, but unfortunately fell in the final four minutes of regulation to a score of 1-0. The Bears declined to a record of 4-9-2, 3-9 AAC, while the Eagles rose to a record of 12-2, 9-2 AAC.
PLAY-BY-PLAY
Both teams were neck and neck for the entirety of the half, combatting each other's shots with their own. Back to back shots by
Jez Walker-Patterson and
Francisco Murdoch forced the Eagles to work on defense, followed by an earned corner kick and blocked shot by
Callum Smith. The final three minutes of the half saw an on-goal header shot by
Lucan Yates, while Reinhardt gained momentum to take four shots of their own (0-0).
In the second half, the Eagles dominated on offense, but TMU was not shaken. The Bears remained resilient on defense, while continuing to take shots on goal. The 85
th minute proved successful for the Eagles as they scored the first and only goal of the game, ultimately resulting in a final score of 0-1.
LEADERS
Murdoch led the way with three shots, followed by
Grant Farrell, Walker-Patterson and Yates who all had a shot on goal apiece.
Hebert Lima and
Marco Vernazza individually had a shot of their own, while goalie
Chandler Bond had an impressive five saves on the night.

The Bears will hit the road to face AAC opponent, Bluefield College, Sunday, Oct. 24, with a kickoff time set for 4:00 p.m.
