Box Score MILLIGAN COLLEGE, Tenn. (October 16, 2021) - The Truett McConnell University women's volleyball team traveled Saturday to face AAC foe, Milligan University, where TMU fell in three sets with a final match score of 25-18, 25-22, 25-16. The Lady Bears fell to a record of 10-16, 6-8 AAC, while the Bulldogs rose to a record of 11-14, 9-6 AAC.
PLAY-BY-PLAY
The Lady Bears started the first set with a kill from Deomi Valmus. A kill from Elizabeth Franklin, Morgan Cox and Ranavia Neal were able to keep the score close, but ultimately TMU fell 18-25. In the second set, Neal sparked the Lady Bears with a kill. A three point rally, with a kill from Sonya SIlecky and a service ace from Morgan Cox put the Lady Bears ahead. The Lady Bulldogs were persistent and closed the gap. Another three point rally, with a kill from Jordan Roberts lessened the lead. Both teams were neck and neck until the Lady Bulldogs broke away. A kill from Neal was unable to keep the Lady Bears in the game, falling short 22-25. In the third set, TMU started hot with a kill from Bethany Ross. Kills from Neal and Franklin kept the Lady Bears in competitive, but the Lady Bulldogs were resilient. TMU did not give up, as seen by a service ace from Rachel Kessler and Sonya Silecky, but the Lady Bears fell short 16-25.
LEADERS
Kessler led the way with 14 digs on the day, followed by Sielcky with 12 and Cox and Roland with nine. Franklin had eight kills, followed by Neal with six and Roberts with five kill. Cox had two service aces, followed by Silecky, Valmus and Kessler with one apiece.
