Box Score MONTREAT, N.C. (October 15, 2021) - The Truett McConnell University women's volleyball team traveled Friday to face Appalachian Athletic Conference opponent, Montreat College, where TMU battled four tough sets, ultimately falling 3-1. The Lady Bears declined to a record of 10-15, 6-7 AAC, while the Cavaliers rose to a record of 9-10, 5-8 AAC.

In the first set, both teams were neck and neck, with TMU keeping the score even after a kill from Jordan Roberts. Taylor Roland recorded a service ace, followed by a kill from Ranavia Neal. Kills from Elizabeth Franklin, Virginia Hudson, Bethany Ross, Roberts and Neal kept the score even. The Cavaliers gained speed, while a three point rally from the Lady Bears proved not enough to close the gap, resulting in set one loss (22-25). In the second set, the Lady Bears struggled to rally together; however, two kills from Neal put TMU on the board. A late three point rally, along with a service ace from Roland, tied the score. A kill from Franklin resulted in the Lady Bears final opportunity of the set, ultimately falling 20-25. TMU started with a three point rally in set three, followed by a kill from Neal to gain a competitive advantage . A kill from Sonya Silecky led TMU to a 25-14 victory, making the match score 1-2. In the fourth set, the Lady Bears struck first with another kill from Neal. The Cavaliers were persistent, but the Lady Bears broke away with a three point rally and a service ace from Madyson Dunn. Both teams were back and forth, but a kill from Roberts was TMU's final move of the night, as the Lady Bears fell 29-31.
LEADERS
Neal led the way with 15 kills on the night, followed by Roberts with 12. Rachel Kessler had 16 digs, while Deomi Valmus led with nine. Valmus, Roland and Dunn all totaled two service aces a piece.Morgan Cox recorded 19 assists, while Valmus tallied 26 of her own
