Box Score WEST POINT, Ga. (October 12, 2021) - The Truett McConnell University women's volleyball team traveled Tuesday to face Appalachian Athletic Conference opponent, Point University, where they showed grit to collect a conference sweep (25-22, 25-20, 25-20). The Lady Bears rose to a record of 10-14, 6-6 AAC, while the Skyhawks fell to a record of 10-11, 7-6 AAC.
PLAY-BY-PLAY
The Lady Bears came out hot, starting off with a kill from Bethany Ross. TMU was neck and neck with the Skyhawks throughout the first set. Sonya Silecky, Jordan Roberts and Elizabeth Franklin each had kills to help TMU rally. Two back-to-back kills from Silecky secured a 25-22 victory. In the second set, the Lady Bears took the lead from the start with seven points, featuring individual ace's from Rachel Kessler and Morgan Cox. TMU ran away with the lead after kill's from Ross and Franklin. The Lady Bears managed to stay ahead and secured a 25-20 victory after a kill from Roberts. In the third set, the Skyhawks struck first; however, a four point rally got TMU back on top, triggered by a Ranavia Neal kill. Kills from Virginia Hudson, Silecky and Ross increased the gap and secured a 25-20 win over the Skyhawks.
LEADERS
Hudson led the with nine kills, followed by Ross with eight kills and Franklin, Neal and SIlecky with seven kills apiece. Cox had ten digs on the evening with two service aces, while Madyson Dunn followed with eight digs of her own.
