CLEVELAND, Ga. (Sept. 18, 2020) – The Truett McConnell University men's soccer team is set to begin their 2020 season on Saturday at Montreat College. According to the AAC Coaches' Preseason Poll, the Bears were picked to finish No. 8 of 12 teams.
"This is an extraordinary year," Head coach Scott Borchers said. "With that said, we have a great opportunity to learn and grow. Grow these guys as men, grow them closer to Christ, and grow them as players."
Borchers, who has coached at Emmanuel College for the last 13 years, will be leading TMU for the first time since the 2006 season. Junior Trevor Fick will be returning for the Bears, who recorded the team's second most goals last season of eight last season. Fick also added two assists and averaged 3.24 shots per game. TMU will also feature 14 incomers.
"This preseason we have been working hard to come closer together as a team," Borchers said. "This is our number one goal to play together, to play for each other, and to bring the best out of each other."
Kickoff is set for 7:15 p.m., at Montreat, and the Bears will host Union College for their home opener on Saturday, Sept. 26.
