Lady Bears fall on the road

COLUMBIA, S.C. (Feb. 12, 2020) – The Truett McConnell University women's basketball team traveled to Allen University on Wednesday afternoon for their 19th Appalachian Athletic Conference game of the season. The Lady Bears fell to the Yellow Jackets (83-61), who ranks fourth in the AAC, for the second time this season. TMU moved to 13-13, 8-11 AAC on the season, while the Yellow Jackets improved to 20-5, 16-5 AAC.

PLAY-BY-PLAY

The first 10 minutes of regulation saw the Lady Bears fall behind by 11 (7-18). In fact, the Yellow Jackets went on to lead by as much as 20 in the second quarter (12-32), but Aisya Davis drained a last second 3-pointer to put the Lady Bears behind by 15 at the half (25-40). Allen came back out in the third quarter to outscore by nine (17-26), which allowed them to get out front by as much as 24, but the Lady Bears picked it up in the fourth. Although the Lady Bears scored 19 in comparison to Allen's 17 in the final 10 minutes of regulation, the game ultimately proved to be out of reach.

LEADERS

Re'Tavia Floyd led all scorers with 25 points and two steals. Davis followed with 10 points, including going 2-for-2 from behind the 3-point line, and added three assists. Sierra Kendall led with seven rebounds and also had three assists.

UP NEXT

The Lady Bears are set to host Columbia College on Saturday, Feb. 15, at 2:00 p.m., inside the Benjamin F. Brady Arena. TMU will host also host Union College on Tuesday, Feb. 17, at 5:30 p.m.
