CLEVELAND, Ga. (Nov. 7, 2020) – The Truett McConnel University men's soccer team concluded their fall 2020 season Saturday evening against Appalachian Athletic Conference foe, Bluefield College, at the TMU Soccer/Lacrosse Complex. The Bears battled until the end but ultimately fell to the Rams with a final score of 2-1, completing the season with a record of 1-8-1, 1-8-1 AAC.
TMU dominated on offense in the first period outshooting Bluefield 7-2, while also earning three corner kicks, as opposed to the Rams who only earned two. The game was scoreless until freshman Daniel Martin found the back of the net off a free kick with 48 seconds left on the clock, which concluded the half (1-0).
The Rams tallied a goal of their own at the start of the second half, which tied the game 1-1 in the 48th minute. The Bears retaliated by outshooting Bluefield once again 11-6, dominating in the visiting team's box, which featured a missed shot off the crossbar by sophomore Justin Hicks. In the 88th minute, the Rams were able to capture a second goal, leaving a short window for TMU to strike back and ultimately resulting in a final score of 1-2.
Senior Trevor Fick lead the Bears with seven shots, one on goal, while Hicks individually had six shots, one on goal. Martin tallied two shots on goal and a single goal, followed by junior Grant Farrell who had two shots, one on goal. Freshman Lucan Yates had a shot of his own, while junior goalie David Windmiller had three saves on the day, finishing the season with a total of 53.
