DAYTON, Tenn. (Nov. 19, 2020) – In the fourth Appalachian Athletic Conference game of the season, the Truett McConnell University women's basketball team suffered a 106-52 loss Thursday night on the road to the AAC reigning champs, Bryan College. The Lions have secured the title of regular season champions three years running and received votes in the latest NAIA national top 25 poll. Bryan is now sitting 3-0, 3-0 AAC, while the Lady Bears fell to 4-3, 1-3 AAC.
Most notable, three Lady Bears scored double figures on the night; juniors Camilla Howell (14), Aisya Davis (12) and Re'Tavia Floyd (10). TMU also outshot Bryan at the free throw line (76.5%).
Bryan came out strong, capturing the lead from the start, while TMU was forced to work on defense. The first quarter saw the Lions ahead (6-27) as they carried that momentum into the second where they secured the lead at halftime (20-55). The Lady Bears combatted with shots of their own able to score almost even with Bryan in the fourth (14-17), but ultimately fell to the reigning champs 52-106.
