MILLIGAN COLLEGE, Tenn. (Sept. 25, 2019) – The Truett McConnell University women's soccer team maintained their perfect Appalachian Athletic Conference streak with a 3-1 win at Milligan College on Wednesday night. The Lady Bears are now 7-1, 4-0 AAC on the year.
Â
TMU's first goal came in the 27th minute when sophomore
Sydney Ziglar beat the Milligan defender to cross the ball into the feet of fellow sophomore
Lydia Williams in the box (1-0). It only took four more minutes for the Lady Bears to score again. Another impressive cross into the box by freshman
Kristin Beasley allowed Ziglar to score another TMU goal on a header to have a two-goal cushion heading into the half (2-0).
Â
The Lady Bears started out the second half outshooting the Buffaloes 4-2, but it was a free kick that enabled TMU's third and final goal. Junior
Tori Wilson took a shot on the free kick that deflected off the goalie's hands and Beasley stormed in to net her second career goal (3-0). Nonetheless, Milligan answered with a goal of their own within the minute (3-1) but that was the last time either team scored. In fact, it was TMU's first AAC goal conceded this season thus far.
Â
Williams led the way with three shots, two on goal, while junior
Jessica Lanier shot two, both on target. Sophomore
Hope Foster was credited five saves on the night.
Â
Up next, the Lady Bears are set to host Bryan College on Saturday, Sept. 28, at 1:00 p.m., at the TMU Soccer Complex.
