Volleyball gets swept by last year’s AAC champs

CLEVELAND, Ga. (Sept. 17, 2019) – The Truett McConnell University women's volleyball team hosted Reinhardt University, who is receiving votes in the latest NAIA national top 25 poll, on Tuesday night inside the TMU Bear Cave. The Lady Bears fell in three straight to the Eagles (25-14, 25-10, 25-18), which moved TMU's season record to 5-8, 3-3 AAC.

Throughout the first set, the Lady Bears were unable get rolling as the Eagles led right off the bat. TMU did come in from behind to trail by four (10-14) but Reinhardt pulled away to take the first game (14-25). The Eagles went on to record a 10-1 run in game two and the Lady Bears were never able to fully recover (10-25). Game three saw the tightest race of the night. TMU pushed to trail by five (17-22) but it proved not enough as Reinhardt rallied to win the match in three.

Senior Harris Anne Walker, sophomore Bethany Ross and freshman Ranavia Neal each led with five kills apiece while senior Madison Curtis added three kills. Ross also led with 11 digs while Abby Maxwell was credited 19 assists and earned eight digs. Hannah Lee had six digs.

Up next, the Lady Bears will travel to Toccoa Falls College on Friday, Sept. 20, at 7:00 p.m., before hosting Allen University at 11:00 a.m., and Bob Jones University at 3:00 p.m., on Saturday, Sept. 21.
