CLEVELAND, Ga. (Sept. 12, 2019) – The Truett McConnell University men's soccer team battled Life University on Thursday evening at the TMU Soccer Complex. The Screaming Eagles came out on top (1-0), which moved the Bears season record to 1-4, 0-0 AAC.
The first 45 minutes of play saw a very tight race with Life recording a total of six shots and TMU recording five. However, neither team was able to find the back of the net before halftime. The Screaming Eagles scored the lone goal in the 72nd minute (1-0) but senior goalkeeper Evan Gaffney made some incredible saves to keep the Bears in the game. Nonetheless, the Bears were unable to capitalize in the final 18 minutes of the game.
Sophomore Luca Brugmann led the way with three shots, two on target, while Trevor Fick also tallied three, one on goal. Gaffney recorded a total of eight saves on the day.
Up next, the Bears will open up their Appalachian Athletic Conference schedule on Saturday, Sept. 14, at 2:00 p.m., when they host St. Andrews University.
