Lady Bears battle SAU but fall on the road (9-7)

LAURINBURG, N.C. (March 9, 2019) – The Truett McConnell University women's lacrosse team traveled to St. Andrews University for another Appalachian Athletic Conference matchup. The Lady Bears (0-4, 0-3 AAC) battled the Knights (4-3, 3-2 AAC) but it was St. Andrews who came out on top in the end (9-7).

PLAY-BY-PLAY

St. Andrews was capable of finding the back of the net in the first three minutes of the game but senior Mackenzie Noggle responded with a goal on a free position shot to match it one minute later (1-1). The Knights scored four more goals the rest of the first half. Hope Foster also scored on a free position shot with five minutes to go but the Lady Bears still trailed by three at the half (2-5).

TMU rallied in the second half outscoring by one (5-4). In fact, the Lady Bears started off the half with two straight goals. Sophomore Cameron Lee netted the first one while Holly Foster netted the second. St. Andrews, however, responded with two of their own back to back. Kathryn Hipe, Hope Foster and Noggle scored the final three TMU goals of the game but it proved not enough.
