CLEVELAND, GA. (Feb. 6, 2019) – Senior
Jacob Booke and sophomore
Myles Monroe led the Truett McConnell University men's basketball to an Appalachian Athletic Conference victory over St. Andrews University on Wednesday night (78-73). The Bears improved to 13-12, 7-11 AAC while the Knights declined to 7-17, 6-12 AAC.

COACH'S COMMENTS
That was a tough, well-fought game against a St. Andrew's team that is well coached and always plays hard," Head Coach
Jon Yeh said. "We earned this win with our defensive intensity. That's been missing the last several games. We had a stretch or two where we lost people in transition in the second half, but I feel it was one of our best games from a half court defensive perspective.Â
Â
We had very balanced scoring, and it was nice to see
Darius Thrower knock down two huge 3-pointers late in the game to put us up. Enocka came up big in the last 10 minutes with his defensive presence at the rim."
Â
PLAY-BY-PLAY
After both teams went head to head trading back and forth leads, the Bears led the final five minutes of the first half but a last second 3-pointer put St. Andrews out front by one at the half (33-34). The second half was similar to the first in that no team could secure their lead.
Â
However, it was the Bears who rose to the occasion in the final five minutes of the game. Two Thrower 3-pointers put TMU in the lead by six with 3:07 to go, which was the Bears' largest lead of the night. A handful of free throws, a
Calvin White bucket off the glass backed up by stellar defensive further secured TMU's seventh AAC win over the Knights.
Â
LEADERS
Booke and Monroe scored 15 apiece while seniors
Filipe Goncalves scored 13 and
Christian Davis added 10. Monroe added four blocks and six rebounds. Goncalves was credited four assists and
Enocka Franky rebounded eight. White scored nine and led with 11 rebounds. Davis and Booke also tallied three steals apiece.
