CLEVELAND, Ga. (Feb. 26, 2019) – The Truett McConnell University women's lacrosse team hosted NCAA DII Southern Wesleyan University for their home opener. The Warriors handed the Lady Bears their second loss of the season 17-4 on Tuesday afternoon.
Despite a goal by SWU in the first 10 seconds of the game, freshman Hope Foster found the back of the net after a stellar pass from senior Mckenzie Noggle. The Warriors were capable of scoring 11 more goals before the half (12-1).
The second half saw a tighter race. SWU netted five more goals but the Lady Bears scored three of their own. Holly Foster tallied the first goal of the half while fellow freshman Kathryn Hipe scored on a free shot. Noggle scored the final TMU goal with 7:33 left to go on the clock.
Both Fosters led the way with five shots apiece. Hipe and sophomore Cameron Lee tallied two shots apiece. SWU outshot the Lady Bears 28-20 and earned 14 ground balls in comparison to TMU's 13.
Up next, the Lady Bears are back at home on Wednesday, March 16, at 3:00 p.m., as they host Appalachian Athletic Conference foe Columbia College.
