Lady Bears’ season comes to a close

CLEVELAND, Ga. (Feb. 16, 2019) – After honoring senior Sarah Hartshorn, the Truett McConnell University women's basketball team's 2018-2019 campaign came to a close on Saturday night after suffering their second defeat against Reinhardt University. The Eagles (18-11, 17-9 AAC) defeated the Lady Bears (5-24, 4-22 AAC) 66-50 inside the Benjamin F. Brady Arena.

COACH'S COMMENTS

"We battled a lot this year but we never gave up," Head Coach Tiek Fields said. "These young ladies played a long season and going into the off season we have a solid core that will continue to develop. Also thank you to all that came and supported these ladies this season."

AN EVEN TWO QUARTERS

Though Reinhardt outscored the Lady Bears 16-9 in the first 10 minutes of regulation, the Lady Bears picked up the pace to keep with them for two complete quarters. Both teams scored 14 in the second quarter to put TMU at 7-point deficit at the half (30-23).

TMU came back out of the locker room in the same fashion in order to tie up the game at 32 apiece with 7:03 to go in the third quarter. A Re'Tavia Floyd 3-pointer tied the game up again (37-37) with 4:24 to go in the third but Reinhardt went on a 7-0 run to lead by seven heading into the fourth. The Eagles rallied to lead by no less than double digits after the first minute of the fourth quarter and the Lady Bears were never capable of fully recovering.
