LAKE WALES, Fla. (Dec. 20, 2019) — The Truett McConnell University women's basketball team defeated Warner University 65-62 on Friday evening to conclude the team's Florida trip. The Lady Bears improved to 7-5, 3-4 AAC on the season, while the Royals failed to claim their second win of the season.

TMU's
Aisya Davis closed out the opening quarter with a 3-pointer to outscore the Royals 15-12. Although the Lady Bears came out in the second with a strong start to get ahead by seven (19-12), the Royals rallied to get back out front by as many as five (19-24). But in the end two back-to-back TMU layups only allowed Warner a one-point cushion heading into halftime (31-32).
Re'Tavia Floyd's 3-pointer within the first minute of the second half sparked a 9-0 scoring run to put TMU ahead by eight (40-32). In fact, all nine points featured Floyd 3-pointers. The Lady Bears ended up leading by three heading into the final quarter (44-41) and although the fourth quarter saw a tight race, TMU never allowed the Royals to gain enough momentum get ahead or tie it up.
LEADERS
Floyd led the way with 21 points and three assists. Davis and
Jessica Jackson scored 11 points apiece with Jackson going 3-for-5 from behind the 3-point arc.
Sierra Kendall added nine points, 10 rebounds and three blocks.
Quan Holton also led with 10 rebounds.
