CLEVELAND, Ga. (Nov. 4, 2019) – The No. 1 seeded Truett McConnell University women's soccer team is set to host the No. 8 seed, Brenau University, for the Appalachian Athletic Conference Quarterfinal Round on Tuesday, Nov. 5, at 2:00 p.m, at the TMU Soccer Complex.
In case you missed it, the Lady Bears (15-2, 12-1 AAC) clinched their second straight AAC regular season title on Saturday, Oct. 26, after winning 2-0 in their regular season finale against Columbia International University. Before suffering their first AAC regular season loss since the 2017 campaign, the Lady Bears won 10 straight, recorded eight shutouts and conceded only two goals through 10 AAC games. The title is shared this season with Tennessee Wesleyan University but because the Lady Bears beat the Bulldogs earlier in the regular season (2-0), TMU earns the automatic bid to the NAIA National Tournament and the No. 1 seed in the AAC tournament.
"We have had a great regular season but as we know, the postseason is a new season and anything can happen," Head Coach David McDowell said. "We are excited for this postseason –  the girls are hungry to win more and win this conference tournament before we go to nationals. It is a great group that have bought into our system and our culture, and I believe if they play with the intensity that the postseason demands then we can be successful. Brenau will be tough. They are a talented team and gave us a battle in the regular season so we will be ready to expect another tight game."
