WEST PALM BEACH, Fla. (Nov. 21, 2019) – The Truett McConnell University women's soccer team (18-2, 12-1 AAC), who is still receiving votes in the latest NAIA national top 25 poll, is set to face The Master's University (12-5-3) in the West Palm Beach Bracket of the NAIA National Championships. TMU's game is set for Friday, Nov. 22, at 11:00 a.m., and will take place on Keiser University's home field.
The Lady Bears, the Co-Champions of the AAC regular season, are coming off the program's first ever AAC tournament title.
"This past weekend was a really special time for our program," Head Coach
David McDowell said. "The girls played outstanding against a resolute Tennessee Wesleyan team and to have the Golden Goal finish from
Jennifer McCall made it a great moment that we will all cherish for a long time. The team has shown a strong camaraderie, as well as determination all year in conference and we hope to take that sense of purpose and belief into Nationals."
Whoever wins Friday's game will face No. 1 Keiser on Saturday at 11:00 a.m. The Master's are currently unranked, while Keiser ranks No. 1 in the NAIA poll. However, Keiser is the tournament's overall No. 2 seed.
"The girls are all looking forward to the tournament," McDowell said. "We know that once you get to the national tournament that all the teams are good. We have been drawn against a strong team in The Master's, as well as the No. 2 team in Keiser, so if we are going to progress we will have to be at our best. However, I know what our best looks like as I see it every day in practice and have seen it all season in our games and this is why we can be confident because this team's 'best' is very good and they have the desire to want to win."
This is TMU's second straight, and second overall, appearance at the national tournament. Friday and Saturday's games will be live streamed
