CLEVELAND, Ga. (Oct. 24, 2019) – On Friday, October 25, the Truett McConnell University women's volleyball team will be hosting a Pregnancy and Infant Loss Awareness Night inside the TMU Bear Cave. The Lady Bears, who will also be honoring their three seniors, will be hosting Bluefield College for an Appalachian Athletic Conference matchup at 6:30 p.m. The three seniors being honored include Harris Anne Walker, Heather Woods and Madison Curtis.
"Having been through a loss myself, and knowing others on our staff who have been through the same thing, we wanted to have this night in order to be an encouragement to those who are going through similar situations because we understand the hurt," Head Coach Mark Corbin. "A very close friend of our team just lost a child so we immediately grew passionate about doing something like this for this young couple."
The team will be selling bracelets, foam fingers, rally towels, megaphones and t-shirts on Friday night, while all proceeds will be given to this young couple. All items are $1-$3, but t-shirts are $8. Ribbons will also be available to write the names of lost infants, or pregnancies, that you wish to honor. All ribbons will be hung on the wall in the gym.
In addition, TMU's Campus Activities Board (CAB) will have a table set up in the lobby of the Bear Cave before the game with supplies for students to make posters. The CAB will be giving away 20 gift cards to students who participate in making the posters for the game and for those who show the most school spirit by wearing their TMU Gear.
All items will be available to grab and purchase at 6:00 p.m. Senior day festivities will begin at approximately 6:20 p.m.
