CLEVELAND, Ga. (Jan. 31, 2019) – The Truett McConnell University women's basketball team and Point University went head to head on Thursday night inside the Benjamin F. Brady Arena. However, it was the Skyhawks who came out on top, 74-68. The Lady Bears fell to 4-18, 3-16 AAC on the year while the Skyhawks improved to 13-9, 12-8 AAC.
COACH'S COMMENTS
"Thought we had a solid game plan to match up with Point and their size," Head Coach Tiek Fields said. "At one time in the game we couldn't rebound the ball to finish a defensive possession. For us to continue to improve we have to focus on the intangibles. Especially with traveling to Columbia this Saturday."
PLAY-BY-PLAY
Point led by as many as eight points but the Lady Bears trailed by just three after the first quarter (12-15). A Quan Holton 3-pointer put TMU behind by just a point (29-30) with 2:34 to go before the half but the Skyhawks were resilient (32-38).
The Lady Bears were only outscored by a bucket (12-14) in the third quarter and for the third straight game TMU won the fourth quarter (24-22) but it wasn't enough as Point secured their second win over the Lady Bears this season.
LEADERS
Freshman Re'Tavia Floyd led all scorers on the night with a career high of 28 points. Floyd currently averages a total of 13.5 points a game. Sophomore Sierra Kendall followed with 18 points and eight rebounds. Holton added seven points and three assists while fellow freshmen Camilla Howell and Madison Davis added six points apiece.
