CLEVELAND, GA. |
The Bears open the series with a win over the Tiger's 7-0 this past weekend at home in Cleveland, GA. Even Bensch did not allow the Tiger's to cross the plate through the first 7 innings in which he struck out 5 men and only allowed 4 hits.
Dalton Cameron came in to finish the shutout throwing 2 innings in relief for the Bears. This also recorded TMU's second win of the season.
The Bear's offense was able to put up a couple of runs in the early part of the game allowing Bensch to relax and go after the opposing lineup. After the score remained the same through 6th inning, the Bears scored 4 runs in the 7th and another in the 8th to eventually seal the win.
Game 2
Greg Elder started the double header on the mound for the Bears Saturday afternoon. Despite striking out 8 men, Elder walked 5 and gave up 3 runs in a short outing of only 4 innings. The Bears batting never came alive and struggled to find an out in the top of the 6th inning. The Tiger's were able to push 6 men across the plate pushing their lead 9-5 to seal the final score, 10-5.
Game 3
Freshman,
Craig Barton, started game three of the series on the mound for the Bears. Falling behind early, the Bears were never able to gain the upperhand against Hiwassee as they fell early in the first inning, 2-0. Again not being able to string anything together, the TMU Bears were held to only 3 hits. The game was cut short due to light conditions leaving Hiwassee with a second with on the day, 6-1.
