CLEVELAND, Ga. (Dec. 5, 2018) – The National Association of Intercollegiate Athletics announced the 2018 Men's Soccer All-America teams on Tuesday, and Truett McConnell University's senior Joao Costa earned his third straight nod on the list. Costa was named to the Honorable Mention All-America team after being named to the Second Team All-America team following the 2017 season, and again the Honorable Mention team following the 2016 season.

"Once again Costa had a great season for us," Head Coach Rob Miller said. "This year marked his third year in a row becoming an All-American which is an unbelievable achievement. To keep that kind of level and being recognized as one of the best players in the country for three years straight speaks volumes of his ability."

Costa's season-high came in the season finale against Shorter University where he found the back of the net four times. Costa tallied a total of 19 goals on the year (1.19 a game) averaging 6.0 shots per game and 3.0 shots on goal per game which ranks him number one in the country for shots per game and number two in shots on goal per game.

In addition, Costa was credited four assists. Costa recorded a season-high of 12 shots two times this season against Bob Jones University and Shorter.

Costa was named Appalachian Athletic Conference Offensive Player of the Year following the 2018 season and Player of the Year following his 2017 campaign.
