CLEVELAND, Ga. (Nov. 10, 2018) – Freshman Re'Tavia Floyd led the Truett McConnell University women's basketball team to victory in their first Appalachian Athletic Conference win on Saturday afternoon against the Columbia International Rams (66-50).

The first 10 minutes saw a tight defensive matchup as the Lady Bears scored just seven points in comparison to the Rams' eight. However, TMU scored nearly three times the amount of points in the second quarter outscoring their opponent by five to lead by five points heading into halftime (29-25).
Similar to the first half, both teams went head to head in the third quarter but it was the fourth quarter when the Lady Bears took off. TMU outscored the Rams by 10 in the final 10 minutes including three 3-pointers and six free throws. The Lady Bears' defense held the Rams to just 13 more points to secure their first AAC win of the season by 16 points (66-50).
"I am happy with our effort from start to finish today," Head Coach Tiek Fields said.
LEADERS
Floyd recorded a season-high of 18 points while Sierra Kendall followed with eight points and 10 rebounds. Freshmen Quan Holton and Camilla Howell added seven points apiece while fellow freshmen Yasmine Avery and Nicole Bates tallied six apiece. Holton and Hannah Dunston were credited three assists apiece.

The Lady Bears are back on the road for some more AAC action on Wednesday, Nov. 14, at Brenau University at 5:30 p.m. TMU will return home to the Benjamin F. Brady Arena on Saturday, Nov. 17, at 2:00 p.m. to host Montreat College.
